Jakarta - Information Technology (IT) is a tool to optimize any services in financial industry. But IT will not work well if the human resource is not ready.

That is what, Prof. JB Kristiadi, Indonesian Secretary Monetary Department, said in CEO forum 2006, held by Bina Nusantara University in Jakarta. Besides talking about human resources, Kristiadi also talked about `Role of IT in Decision Making on the Economic World'. It reveals challenges for IT users in Indonesia.

One of those challenges is the incomplete policy for IT world, for example no cyber law, or cyber policies, plus the limited guarantee on security.

“Beside that, from investment point of view, we can say that investment in IT world is very expensive. We know that we can not see the effect right away since technology have the tendency to change very fast,” said Kristian in his lectured.

He also added, the maldistribution of the infrastructure is one of the barrier for IT implementation. Not only that the unready culture also becoming barrier for IT development, as long as the Indonesian people feel comfortable working without PC, they will not taste the benefit of having an IT solution to run their jobs or their business.

“Not only that, the tendency resistance to change is still high and the support from their leader is still rare. There are various kind of support from the leader of the company, there are leaders who realize that IT is very important for them, and there are also conventional leaders.”

Though it cost very high, a lot of department use IT to help doing their jobs. Monetary department also use IT solutions, they use Integrated Financial Management Information System. It is use to organize, run and check the report on APBN (Yearly budget for the country).

That sort of beneficial side of the IT appeared by the help of lots of national policies, such as the presidential mandatory no.6 year 2001 about the usefulness of IT.
