Let us visit Investment Management Operation (IMO) department, they are already familiar with the terms SIAP or Portfolio Administration Information System, which is the new application system that being prepared by Danareksa and third-party vendor (Praisindo Teknologi) in order to administer all their portfolio database that covers investment management activities by the Asset Management unit including mutual fund portfolios and discritionary portfolios to replace the existing system (Old System) by European-based IT software company.

Background
Several issues that being the main considerations for Danareksa to replace the Old System, among others are:

Cost-Driven:

• High cost in maintenance and license fees from the previous vendor. New vendor offer considerably lower cost.
• High cost in software customization fee. New vendor uses N-tier development technology and uses MSF (Microsoft Solution Framework) project management that save time and cost in the software customization effort

Technology-Driven:

• Old System uses out-of-date DOS-based user interface that still being use in some other financial software solution. SIAP (new system) utilizing up-to-date MS-Windows interface that facilite mouse navigations, keyboard shortcut, macro functions, drag-and-drop and multi-level screen resolution.
• Old System only offer standard printing system for dot-matrix printer on 80-character wide paper. SIAP offer printing to all type of printers, including several file exporting (TXT/CSV, Excel, Word and Pdf) by utilizing MS-SQL 2005 reporting tools.

Objective & Ambition
The objective of this project is for Danareksa to replace the Old System that previously being used.
The ambition is to achieve cost efficiency by using local product and vendor that would be easily manage and can provide increased service quality by using the latest proven technology.

Design Concept
Some factors that will be considered in this project, among others:

• User Friendly: the user should be familiar with the new user interface, easy to learn for new users and has extra features for power users.
• Accessibility: Application-Database access speed
• Manageability: Parameter-based system
• Integration: Good connectivity with other application system

Without good future prospective, any application software would only have short lifetime. To anticipate such problem, SIAP provide Web Services module that shall facilitate integration and data interchange with external system. Web Services also allows SIAP to be developed to provide mobile and PDA interface.
